Is it time to give yourself a boost and connect with your authentic self every day?  Sometimes we need a reminder to connect with who we really are in the highs and lows of life.

I have had this list next to my desk for quite some time. It has become “wallpaper” …  like so many things we want to remind ourselves about! I thought it was time to dust it off and share with you. Val x

girl walking along road

On your journey to loving your authentic self:

1. Stop doing what you know is bad for you and start nourishing yourself.

2. Stop chasing and start appreciating.

3. Stop comparing yourself to others and start identifying your own gifts.

4. Stop being good and start being true to yourself.

5. Stop setting yourself up and start making life easy for you.

6. Stop setting other people up and start under-promising.

7. Stop waiting and start trusting your intuition.

8. Stop trying to meet everyone else’s expectations and meet your own.

9. Stop trying to become somebody and just be yourself.

10. Stop having problems and start solving them.

Which one would you choose to have fun with this week?

Its number 7 for me!

p.p.s. Look around …. is there “wallpaper” around you that needs some attention right now?

Three is my on-going battle, but 4, now that looks like one to have fun with next week! Thanks for the list! I, too, have some wallpaper that sometimes I stop and stare at and remind myself to actually pay attention to!

Reading through this list makes me appreciate how far I’ve come . . . but I could still work on most of these issues. Here’s to being ME!

#7 for me too. I rest too much in my safety net……..which is another word for control. I want to trust my intuition more.

Nice insight ISWH!… and a reminder about control vs intuition. As we grow we start to trust our intuition more .. but we also have to let go more for that to happen 🙂

I think I’ll take the full 10-week refresher course. It’ll give me 10 good ways to live the good life, my good life. Thanks, Val!

Mariann, thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. Number 4 is getting a lot of attention….. You are in good company! Looking inwards to connect with our own wisdom, rather than outwards to please others, builds inner strength, resilience and confidence to be authentic in the world. Val x

What a great list Val! Thanks for sharing. I really like this idea, and would simply re-word it a bit for myself to focus on the STARTS and not have the word Stop at the start of each sentence. That’s just the way my brain works, but I truly enjoy this idea! I like all these points, and number 6 especially reminds me of the adage: under commit and over deliver. Hugs, Gina

This is a p.s.thought. Gina, your preference for “start” rather than “stop” makes sense on many levels – linguistically and neurologically. If I was say Let go of … then Start. How would that resonate?

Ah we are indeed kindred spirits as I often mull things over too! My initial thought on the list was to reverse it: Start nourishing yourself; stop doing what is bad for you. Start appreciating; stop chasing. Start identifying your own gifts; stop comparing. It may not work on all points, but this was my initial gut reaction. I also like you suggestion of ‘Let go of’ or Release to begin the sentence too! 🙂

#4! Being good comes easy for me, being true to myself not so much. I tend to put the needs of others before my own and then end up feel drained. I have no energy left to do the things I need or want to do. Great post! 🙂

So glad to have you here! Being good comes from our earliest conditioning … so there’s a lot of shedding beliefs and shifting perspectives that takes place when we explore #4. Its one of the juiciest ones! Val x
