Every Step is Holy

By Danna Faulds

The journey from the known
to unknown, from the
unreal to the real, is rarely
revealed in advance.
The potholes, detours,
false starts, and quick retreats
are each honorable,
and even needed in the bigger
scheme, in the forest that can’t
be seen between the trees.

It took years for me to realize
that the very twists and turns
and shadows I labeled “problems”
were really sacred ground
grace disguised as obstacles,
the whole pass a pilgrimage,
mysteries baring themselves
before me all along the way.

Grace disguised as obstacles as we step together through our lives of potholes and detours… walking each other home.

Being there for our selves and others on this journey is the ultimate in grace.

A Question for the Future

This time of year can bring many questions and refections. Here is question to ponder. Enjoy this Middle Ground pause.

oooOooo

At this time of year it’s natural to reflect back and then look forward to what the New Year might bring.  Some of us set game plans and goals to accomplish… Others have intentions around our own evolution and inner journey…  And some of us like to stay in the present moment.

You know how I enjoy shifting perspectives and seeing things in a new way. Seeing things differently can bring clarity and break us free from conditioning and “stuckedness”.

I came across this question and knew I had to share with you. Go beyond your analytical, practical mind, and open up your intuition.  Let your inner guide answer this one.

Imagine your future self gives you a box and says the object symbolises your destiny.question mark boxWhat do you see when you open the box?

pause

Your box is as big as your imagination. It can be as large as a landscape or a small symbol that represents something more. Be open to whatever shows up.

This is what lies ahead for me.

tender heart

I pictured a rose quartz heart in a simple little box. It represents an open heart; self acceptance; bringing peace and compassion for self and others.

What’s in your destiny box?

The Mellow Glow

Why fight against the fading glow of youth?
Why try to freeze a process that can’t be stopped?
You’re clinging too hard, that’s why you’re weary;
your face is lined with tension not with age.

And even if your form has altered a little
even if the surface is a little worn and chaffed
your being is rich and deep
nourished by experience and understanding
and another kind of light is shining from you now:
a full, mellow glow, like autumn sunshine,
that spreads further and touches deeper
than the flashing, dazzling glow of youth.

Why not let that glow shine through
instead of trying to rekindle a faded light?

Change brings decay if you resist it.
But if you accept it and flow with it,
it brings growth and renewal.

Let us embrace the full mellow glow that touches others deeply and ignites the light of our own Being.

The Insanity of the Human Condition

crowd

“In no way can I deny the insanity of the human condition. And yet, because there’s so much insanity, so much unconsciousness, it’s possible that there’s also the other side of it.

Life is always balancing itself out.

So, while all of this is happening, there’s also this undercurrent of people all over the place who have a deep and profound interest in the ultimate nature of reality in themselves—and they are realizing it!

Not only is that now happening among a wider variety and number of human beings, it’s also happening more and more outside of hierarchical institutions.

I think there’s something within all of this, something very authentic, that’s breaking down the barriers between every person and our ideas of what a spiritual person is. It’s sort of a silent, quiet revolution that’s happening.

But even though there’s a lot of awakening, I don’t know if that means we’re at the dawn of some beautiful renaissance age or that the human species will totally selfdestruct. I can see it going either way.

I do think that in our deepest heart we don’t actually want to contribute to the insanity around us. Our nature is, if anything, to be a contributor to sanity and wholeness, to bringing that into manifestation.”

~ Adyashanti

May we stop contributing to the insanity around us….

Bring on the silent loving revolution towards wholeness.

Three Levels of Truth

deeper meaning

“There are three levels of truth: experience, reasoning, and knowing.

All other assertions should be rejected.”

The first type of truth is from our direct experience.

The second type, is truth gained from reasoning and analysis.

The third type of truth is different from the first two. This is the way of spiritual knowing. This knowledge is beyond words, description and rationalization There is no need for other investigations.

In fact, one must be careful not to let the fruits of one’s meditations pass into the realm of rationalization.

To avoid doubt and conflicting opinions, followers of Tao keep their revelations and spiritual knowing to themselves.

~ Deng Ming-Dao from 365 Tao

The more we try to analyze a truth, the more doubt and confusion arises in the mind.

The answer lies beyond our experience and our thinking mind.

This sense of knowing requires faith in the ultimate truth and in our ability to let go.

Letting Go

time to let go

Fall is the season for letting go. Shedding and releasing things that we no longer need. In doing so, its important to accept that there may be a sense of loss and sadness at this time of year. We are emotional beings after all.

This also makes it a time for self compassion, nurturing and kindness.

Yet letting go is a part of our lives…
It happens every day in our breathing and falling asleep.
It happens when we let go of our children and allow them to be independent adults.
It happens when we end relationships or jobs that no longer serve us.
It happens when we accept that we are not perfect human beings after all.

Life is a journey of letting go, to create space, to restore our balance and to discover what really matters.

Letting go is part of the natural rhythm of life.

Without letting go, we cannot be free.

Life’s Stepping Stones

life obstacles

Obstacles are the stepping stones of life.

To a younger mind, most obstacles are seen as problems that prevent us from getting what we want. Or worse, blocking our vision for our future.

What if each obstacle is there so we can recognize it and face it, rather than avoiding or wishing it away?

What if this is the opportunity to look at the struggle we are feeling and bring a new perspective and understanding?

What if this will bring you closer to a future that is right for you?

What if this is the gateway to real growth in our adult lives?

When we place our foot firmly on the stepping stone, and then the other, we can find our balance in uncertainty.

Stepping forward with awareness and readiness takes us along the path.

Embrace the discomfort and the growth that is to be revealed.

Trust.

Breathe.

Love.

See Your Life As One Life – Entirely Whole

Live your life, don’t just talk about it or write about it.

Live it twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.

There are no times off in this life, there are no days off;

Every moment, every hour, every day is a holy day;

Every moment is precious.

See your life as One life – entirely whole.

Let every part of it fit together perfectly so there are no divisions.

Life is Like … a Symphony

“As the great Confucius said, ‘The one who would be in constant happiness must frequently change.’ Flow.

But we keep looking back, don’t we? We cling to things in the past and cling to things in the present…

Do you want to enjoy a symphony? Don’t hold on to a few bars of the music.
Don’t hold on to a couple of notes. Let them pass, let them flow.

The whole enjoyment of a symphony lies in your readiness to allow the notes to pass…”

~ Anthony de Mello

Allow each moment of our lives to pass without attachment.

Embrace the constant changes.

Live life like a symphony.

Play on.

Nothing to work out.
Pause and find your Middle Ground
Begin the work in.
~

We all have times of struggle, when we try to figure out life. We look to the outside world for the answer. We may be inspired by certain people, events or experiences there, but what we seek is already present within us.

When we pause and take time to be present, we learn to let go of our conditioning and what we  think we “should” be doing.

We step into being.

In this space, we begin to touch our knowing and loving center.

I call it Finding our Middle Ground.

Dharma Tail Wagging

Yesterday, we had to take down a diseased ash tree which was close to the house. I always feel sad when a tree comes down. Afterwards the dogs enjoyed the new smells and opportunity to dig… especially our  Dilys. Terriers follow their instincts and have such a good time digging and going underground!

She had so much fun, and didn’t want to come in.

I laughed, not just at her, but at myself.  I drive nearly 5 hours to have a similar experience at Kripalu, and she explores her dharma and finds joy in her own back yard.

Perhaps there’s a lesson here. ☺️

Pearl of Wisdom – What do I Want?

inner pearl

You ask “What do I want from the world?”

Taking has become the norm

To satisfy the hole inside of  you.

The answer lies not in the wanting, but in the giving

“What do I have to give to the world?”

In the giving you become whole.
