“Sometimes letting go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on”
~ Eckhart Tolle
Letting go can be more powerful that putting our energy into defending or hanging on… yet it is often hard to do.
Sometimes we don’t realize that we are holding on to something, until we notice tension in our body or mind. Or we feel miserable and don’t know why! And even then, our resistance to surrender continues.
I like to think of letting go as a real gift to ourselves.
To let go, we give up the illusion of control, and the protective barrier we have put up.
We become vulnerable, and in doing so, we let the love in.
It is an act of compassion and acceptance.
It connects us to the present moment and to our inner being.
It allows the moving energy to flow once more.
What can you let go of today as a loving gift to yourself?
Namaste
Wonderful words, Val! I love the quote too. ❤

Very true words Val. Letting go is a constant process of being conscious of where I’m at, how I’m being present in loving acceptance of what is. ❤

In a year where for both Jeannie and me our mortality has been never far away letting go of the future seems most important. Learning to live in the present, as our dogs do so well!

So true. Letting go is a daily process. Letting go of thoughts, things, ideas that no longer work and people that have other agendas. Have a great week.

Letting go — I’ve gotten much better at it as I age… The past several years I’ve been letting go of heirlooms handed down to me and taking up so much physical and emotional space. The biggest one, perhaps, was a baby grand piano I inherited from my great-grandmother. I shed a few tears when it was taken away, whispered “sorry Grammy” to her and myself and accepted the reality that nothing lasts forever. Funny how objects can last longer than the people who used them. I think about this often when I go to estate sales….

I hear you Barbara. I have an attic full of grandparents heirlooms that have nowhere to go … it is hard letting go of the material things as they are often connected with memories and emotions that we want to hold on to. Thank you 💛

Meaningful coincidence…at my class last night we were discussing when we felt dense energy what did we do to release it or let go. Great post!

I’m not sure why your blog speaks to me so often, but it sure does. I’m not always good at giving myself the gift of letting go, but I’m getting better at it. And it is wonderful!

It is really a gift to ourselves to be able to let go, Val 🙂
For a while I have included in my meditation to let go, what is no longer serving my purpose and it really feels like a release, when I feel the energy of what is leaving.

That is a timely question for me today: I can let go the worry about material assets in the near path of Hurricane Matthew. My son’s family is safely evacuated from North Florida and that’s all that matters. So now need to release those worries.

I just returned from vacation which concluded with a 9 hour flight. I don’t enjoy flying — something about being “out of control”. As if I ever was! Haha.
“To let go, we give up the illusion of control”… Illusion is really the crux of it, isn’t it?
Thanks Val.

Love this! Its the feeling of being in control that we all seem to seek MK. When we can accept that there are things that can never be in our control, it becomes easier to start to let go. Thanks!

It’s interesting to me how much fear there is around letting go, but once done, the freedom of all that baggage is exhilarating. Great post, Val.

So true Diana. 💛The fear, and tension that comes when we are about to make the (ego-mind) decision to let go, makes it so much harder. Imagine if we simply went through life tuning in to the natural ebb and flow of life.
Baggage would be a word only reserved for world travelers!
