I am back from a wonderful time in Italy, and getting settled into the rhythm of life here. These words from Lao Tzu resonated with me.
Remain quiet.
Discover the harmony in your own being.
Embrace it.
If you can do this, you will gain everything,
and the world will become healthy again.
~ Lao Tsu
A world in balance, begins with finding it within ourselves.
Make time to pause and listen inwards.
Embrace the rhythmic harmony of each breath.
May you find your Middle Ground today.
That inner balance is a beautiful thing Val 😀

Wise words indeed. In the busyness of our modern world groaning with the weight of iphones, computers and modern technology, I think many of us forget the value of silence.
Just sitting without artificial sound and the chatter of our busy minds, many of us can’t tolerate the ‘sound’ of silence, but if we truly zone out and rest in nature, we can expand our consciousness to an appreciation of its peace and calm.
Personally, I couldn’t do without my morning breaks staring out the window listening to the wind in the treetops and the faint chatter of birds. Sometimes I seem to drift off, eyes wide open, mind at rest and then suddenly ‘awaken’ and see that 2-3 hours has passed by and I feel rejuvenated to start the rest of my day.
I do think it takes some practice to develop this quiet mind and space though.

Welcome back! And I know what you mean about embracing the quiet. Yesterday I had a tooth extraction that turned out to be a little more complicated than anticipated. When I found myself getting to anxious, I just breathed very deeply and repeated some calming mantras (in my head, sure didn’t want to annoy the dentist!) And it worked!

Sometimes the shortest and sweetest of quotes/posts are the most profound. Great post and great reminder to take time to pause and listen inwards. Thank you!

Balance, simple and yet so complicated! The instructions are seemingly simple as in Confucius‘s “To go beyond is as wrong as to fall short“, but implementing it is a different story…
