Here is some more powerful and inspiring wisdom from the heart of Kahlil Gibran in “The Prophet”. This moved me deeply and draws me back again and again. Val x
“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Just as the stone of the fruit must break, so that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.
And if you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy.
If you accept the seasons of your heart, as you have always accepted the four seasons, you would watch with serenity the winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore, trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen.”
Every time I read this it brings me into the present moment… no matter where I am in the highs and lows of life.
May we all embrace the seasons of our heart and the love that is always there.

The perfect reading for me just as I turn down for the night, after a little bit of a “troubling” day. But all will be well, and there is a season. Thank you so for sharing and for this gentle and important reminder, Val.

I came to this conclusion early in my personal crisis (hence the name of my blog).
Convincing other people is a little more difficult and ‘hurry up and get over it’ adds to the pain. Therefore “trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility” is as equally important to understand. Silence is golden.

Others often feel uncomfortable with pain – not only their own but to see it in someone else. This is a conditioned response so they don’t have to face it and feel it.
Find compassion for those who are trying to escape or deny this aspect of their own life.
as you have found, when we are able to be with the feelings that arise and give them space, they transform into healing and peace.
I’m so glad you found inspiration here and are on this path.

I like this by Khalil Gibran also “When darkness is upon you, say: ‘This darkness is dawn not yet born; and though night’s travail be full upon me, yet shall dawn be born unto me even as unto the hills’ “
