I asked myself this question and this is what came up:

My practice is being present.

Being present to what is unfolding.

Being present to thoughts.

Being present to feelings.

Noticing resistance and judgements.

Noticing desires and compulsions.

Without judgment

And letting them go.

Being present for others.

Being kind and listening.

Sharing what I have learned along the way.

Shining the light from deep within.

Being open to what is not known.

Crossing the threshold into the unknown.

Being curious beyond the limitations of the mind.

Venturing into esoteric and mystical worlds.

Realizing curiosity is the answer to fear.

That I am right here

Exactly where I need to be.

As I let go of trying to control the world around me, and myself, ease appears.

Grasping is hard work. Try this for yourself: Tighten your fist and hold it like that for as long as you can. Then open it and feel the release and relief as the energy flows again. So many of us hold ourselves this way.

What happens when we stop controlling, grasping, protecting, and searching for an answer? What happens when the seeker no longer seeks?

The mind lets go and the what is beyond our thinking begins to evolve and expand. Grace appears from deep within… an inner knowing and loving presence that is always with you.

You can’t think your way into enlightenment, no matter how many books you read, gurus you follow, or hours of meditation you put under your belt.

The need to know and the need to do, is part of being human. But it is also a cage that keeps you separate from coming home to your true self.

To break free you must allow yourself to feel it all and go beyond the thinking mind.

Practice for Presence not perfection.

Well written Val. The ‘let go’ is indeed an amazing thing. Holding that fist for so long until we understand…and let it go…all of it. Thank you for sharing the release 🤗❤️🙏

I think continuing to be curious and resilient are two of my strengths. And these attributes seem to flow into my poems, Val

Such a powerful and necessary inquiry, Val. Thank you for offering this today. Daily journaling begins my practice. Makes a difference in my presence in the day. To other sentient beings and to challenges, I am a better me, present. 🙏🏻💜

I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity.

To curiosity, as the path unfolds before us! Happy New Year!
