The serenity prayer continues to be an inspiration to many of us. Today, I had a conversation about being okay with ambiguity, and this post came to mind. I hope it inspires all of you dealing with uncertainty in the highs and lows of life💛
Most of us are familiar with the Serenity Prayer. It’s moving and inspiring.
“God grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
I was reading it online and noticed some variations. Different words were emphasized. Look at the interpretations below:

No matter which words resonate, it dawned me that there may be some missing key words for me and some of you.
These are:
Controlling – Letting Go – Trusting
To me the Serenity Prayer is about letting go of control and trusting to something bigger than ourselves.

I did see it differently Val. Acceptance is one of the most difficult choices I have had to make, followed by courage to learn and change my thoughts around it. I actually think after we do this, wisdom is gained. Happy Friday!! 😇

The wisdom to know the difference is where I give up control of anything other than my self. That’s a big enough job.

I have come to understand Val that I can only begin to let go of what I am conscious of. As long as I am unconscious of whatever it is I need to let go off, it controls me. I remember so well that the biggest shift I made in my life was when I made the wonderful discovery that I am actually not my thoughts and that I can actually put myself in a place where I can observe them and deal with them. That’s when Letting go became a practical reality for me. Great post.

Thank you for such a helpful comment Don! We can’t change anything we aren’t aware of. This is where ignorance brings limitation. With awareness comes strength, as you stated in a recent post.
Observing my thoughts was a huge shift for me as well. Realizing that they were not the truth, was the final letting go.
Thank you for sharing here 💛
