everest quest

“The inner meaning of life does not readily reveal itself; it must be searched for. Such a search is the Quest.

When a man begins to seek out his real nature, to find the truth of his real being, he begins to follow the Quest.

The Quest is a veritable re-education of the self, leading in turn to a noble transcendence of the self.

Some come to the truth in a roundabout way.

The Quest is direct.

The Quest is spiritual mountaineering.”

Paul Brunton taken from “Yoga Gems” edited by Georg Feuerstein

When I read this I like the idea of spiritual mountaineering. A direct route for the courageous!

And yet we can also come to the truth in a round about way.

It is there for each and every one of us … one step at a time.

A never-ending quest at that – for there is always more to explore. 🙂

Paul Brunton – yes, I remember reading a title of his in the eighties – The Secret Path – and remarking then how good it was. 🙂

“Deep down within the heart there is a stillness which is healing, a trust in the universal laws which is unwavering, and a strength which is rock-like. But because it is so deep we need both patience and perseverance when digging for it.”

Reminds me a little of how indigenous people would go out alone to be chosen by their spirit animal and many other customs from other cultures. We all eventually ask, ‘Who am I?’ ‘Why am I here?’

Love the thoughts you noted above Val! ❤

I recently read a book by Paul Brunton, called The Short Path to Enlightenment. Spiritual mountaineering is a very good description – from what I can gather, this is not a path for the fainthearted!
