It isn't really difficult,
this bridging of the realms.
It takes no special agility,
no training in firewalking
or turning cartwheels on
a tightrope, just a blend
of will and surrender.

When I open to the source
of wonder, I let go of the
trapeze to soar weightless
and amazed. I calculate
without thinking, and grab
the next trapeze bar on the fly.

Will and surrender are not
adversaries but two ends of
one broad arc that fills the
circus tent with life.
There can be no show
unless the acrobat
is ready to let go.

~ Danna Faulds from "From Root to Bloom" Yoga Poems and Other Writings.

I love the images that this poem from Danna Faulds conjures up. It appears simple to focus on will and surrender, when we want to move forward on a spiritual path.

We find the practice, we commit to it with our will, and embrace it with our heart. But more than this is needed when we imagine reaching for a trapeze in mid air!

The trapeze shows us how much courage it takes to open ourselves up to our true nature and let go of our conditioning, our ego-mind and our fear. It also takes trust. Trust that you will be supported and not fall into an unknown abyss…

And in time when you connect with others who may not seem to be acrobats yet have found their way, be assured that you are also on the path, and exactly where you are meant to be.

  4. Let go and trust. I’m hearing this a lot lately, Val. I received a message last week that said, ‘if it feels right, go for it!’. The signs are there.
Thanks for being on my path! 🙂

  8. This is how I feel when I am swing dancing. I am wondering how I can transfer that experience into my daily life. ??? There is a playfulness and I think it is worth experimenting with.

  9. Beautiful imagery in both your words and the quote Val… Trusting when we let go, that as we fly free we will land with perfect ease grasping hold of that support which was always in motion swinging in perfect synchronicity to be perfectly timed ..
All is perfectly timed and in perfect order… We just need to trust and LET GO..
Great post Val xx Thank you ✨💖🙏
