“As soon as we are born, we are part of an endless search
that really goes nowhere. But it’s the journey and movement
of the search that enlivens us…

It is through this endless seeking that effort reveals grace.
It is through the endless search that life moves through us
until we realize that heaven is wherever we are,
if we meet life completely with an open heart.

And just as moving through water keeps fish alive,
moving through life brings our indwelling presence
into the world. Moving through life allows meaning to
accumulate through relationship.”

~ Mark Nepo. Drinking from the River of Light. Sounds True.

I love how Mark Nepo addresses this so simply.

We all begin our journey when we are born into this world. We think we are going somewhere.

We move through life, and the challenges along the way enliven us. When we meet life completely with open hearts, we realize that what we are seeking is wherever we are.

When we meet life with an open heart we start living from the center of our being and bring our “indwelling presence” to the world. These are our gifts to share.

As we go through life in this way, meaning grows through our relationships. There is a flow to life and when we move with it, our relationships to others and to life will change with it. We meet others on a similar path and find deeper connections.

We recognize the light and spirit in others and embrace them along the way.

And that is beautiful.

Two themes that I have grown to admire – presence & making meaning through relationships! Thanks for inspiring reflection on both.

“…endless search that goes nowhere…” Reminds me of now-here. An endless search now here. Perspective is the difference.

Mark Nepo’s writings inspire…always. Thank you for this one, Val. 💜🙏🏻

    Val,
I love this post and have found it to be true in my own life. When I am in the space of, there is nowhere to get to, nothing to fix, and living from my heart, life is so complete.
    Thanks for sharing your journey.

It seems like the whole point of life is to live it. Meeting wholesome people is kind of a bonus, every time I come across one of those I know it’s a gift. We are not entitled for anything.
Last nigh I met a few absolutely wonderful folks, it’s a blessing I can never take for granted. Some days, weeks, and maybe even years you go thru the desert of life, meeting no one but lizards and scorpions. Once you get lucky, the universe sends you an angel – it’s the reason to celebrate, to drink the abundance that the creator provides, to dance while the wheel of life is spinning.
