Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.
~ Khalil Gibran
The beauty of love is when it is like a moving sea between the shores of our souls, and when we come together yet do not over shadow one another.
Space and touch ignite. Bonds can only stifle.
Namaste
I love this! My goal is to love the person that they are, and only take what they offer me in return. It’s not always easy, as all too often we want them to love us the way we Want to be loved, and try and force them to change the way they love. So much better when we can release those bonds. Just a beautiful start to my day!

Strong words, Val. I’m inclined to agree with them but have known and know some inspiring examples of couples who break all these rules. Consequently, I think I have to allow for deviations from the general rule!

We are all different and finding the right mix is part of creating loving relationships that honour both people. Thank you for this Jean 💛

You’re welcome, Val. I think even the same individual changes /bends with different relatiinships.
