“Everything you think is a barrier is actually a door you have not and need to walk through.” – David Whyte

In Scotland I take lots of walks to enjoy the fresh sea air and clear my head. I also love the enchanted Fairy and Willow Walk at Archerfield, and witnessing the absolute delight in the eyes of children and adults alike.

There are so many entryways and doors that present themselves throughout life.

When we want to keep things just as they are, we resist these openings and see them as obstacles.

The ego mind needs to feel safe with what it knows, and resists what is unknown. This is true even when our higher self knows it is time for change and transformation.

What if the barrier you label is actually a doorway you have yet to enter and may very well need to walk through?…

The Fairy Walk reminds us of the enchantment of childhood, and the adventure of making new discoveries.

When we lighten up we open up.

Barriers become doorways.

  4. It is a powerful walk this life, ever asking us to enter so many of those doorways. And they leave scars, some little, some big. But in each and every one it leaves an opening for us to touch and feel a love, a very beautiful one inside us. Is it worth testing those doorways?…oh very yes. Great post Val, and well written. May we have the courage to enter them all 🤗❤️🙏

  8. Loved this!

So many entryways present themselves to us. To step through, or stay put? That is the question.

Look! Just there! A door looming on the horizon.

  9. An inspiring reminder, Val. Your words illustrate how our greatest obstacles can become gateways to growth and transformation, and the imagery of the Fairy Walk and the notion of lightening up truly resonates. Sometimes, letting go and stepping forward is exactly what we need. Take care, and have a beautiful weekend!
