My wealth is wonder.
True abundance is the
delight I feel on summer
nights as fireflies rise
from the grass and Orion
strides across the sky.
I measure my wealth
in birdseed and hummingbird feeders,
in the number of purple
morning glories the vines
on the back deck produce.
Inner light, divine connection,
self-expression, love -
these are the real riches of my life.

I am very rich, indeed. In fact, only yesterday a hummingbird stopped by while I was reading on my front porch and winged winged winged in front of me, than gave a humming chatter (very distinctive) and I suddenly got that much wealthier.

Such simple lines—yet they carry galaxies. “My wealth is wonder” isn’t sentiment; it’s root-level truth. The real riches aren’t currency or accomplishment, but the silent blessings: a firefly’s flight, hummingbirds at dawn, the quiet pull of connection and expression.

This poem is a gentle altar to abundance—one not counted in gold, but felt in the body and belonging. Thank you for reminding us that true wealth is always present if our hearts pause long enough to notice.
