* Kindling the Inner Fire

“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should be all thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”

Albert Schweitzer

kindling candle flame

Accept that there will be low times

Yet we can rekindle inspiration

Spark off each other

Bring fresh awareness of our inner fire

And fan the flames together

Thank you all for kindling our inner spirit ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I know what he means, but think he could have expressed himself better.

    Like the sun, our inner fire never goes out. If we can’t sense the flame, it’s because we’ve allowed it to be obscured by the “clouds and fog” of daily living.

    And I’m not convinced that we need to encounter “another human being” to reignite the spark ~> the whisper of the wind or the wash of waves on the sand may be all it takes for us to soar again.

    1. I agree Nancy … Yet there is something precious when we encounter an other human being who brings lightness and spark when we need it.
      It is the humanity within the universal spirit.

      1. I believe that the universal spirit is far broader than humanity. It exudes from kittens at play, palm fronds swaying in the breeze, sunlight dancing on water, etc. Man may hold himself apart from and above the rest of nature . . . but that’s rather self-congratulatory.

        1. We are in agreement Nancy! We are all part of the universal spirit … and I still get a kick out of connecting with humans as well as the wonders of nature, animals, and the swelling loving energy that is in stillness. xo
