The coats that we wear
Hand me downs from family
Let them fall apart

The coats that we wear
Keep us safe, in tight control
Let us shed them all

The coats that we wear
Hide our authenticity
Break free. Go naked.

    So many different coats we don, so often covering up what’s raw and naked within. Your poem is great!

      Thanks Kathy! It’s always worthwhile checking with ourselves and where we are now. Some old coats keep us warm and feeling safe. Others take us away from who we truly are.

    I like the analogy. Some coats are only good for certain seasons. It’s good to know when to remove them.
