We are Built to be Kind

common humanity

This video from Dacher Keltner at UC Berkeley is a fascinating take on Darwin, human evolution, brain function and social class and interactions. May human self interest move in this direction.

After all, we are built for it. 🙏

  3. Maybe it’s possible to up the moments of empathy and caring. Fascinating about how the “lower” classes give more than the “upper” classes. I have heard that before.

    1. It is fascinating isn’t it. May we bring more of this into the world… without it being triggered by a disaster or catastrophe on the news. 🙏

  4. Yes we are built to be kind, interact, love, hug, be together and find joy in our hearts.
May we each find again that connection within ourselves to share our hearts with each other .. ❤
    Much love my friend ❤

    1. Thank you so much Sue. There is much conditioning and distractions elsewhere. May we all do our bit to bring more empathy and kindness into the world around us.

  6. So interesting! It helps explain a lot of the behavior we’re seeing in privileged societies, and technology may be exacerbating the gap. Mind the gap!

  7. Val, thank you for this video. It’s hopeful. It reminded me of one of my recent blog posts titled “I Feel Your Pain.” I hope you don’t mind if I share the link here: https://billtonnisministries.com/2022/01/13/i-feel-your-pain/

  8. Beautiful Val. Our beautiful natural state within is not something to be searched for but rather understood it is always here. We have always been this. 🧡🧡

  9. The more difficult and hard our experiences, the more empathy and appreciation is indeed gained by them. The richer (and this doesn’t apply to them all), ruling class don’t have that as much, and make decisions that affect us all from that ‘less’ empathy scale, that less giving place, that shows us that a more fair and just way would be to allow the ‘lower’ class to rule. But the ego’s, prompted by that less empathy, of that richer class won’t allow that…so we suffer…and become more loving, more empathetic as they become less. I think it certainly divides the sheep Val 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋
