thinking man

“Why are you unhappy? Because 99.9 percent of everything you think, and of everything you do, is for yourself—and there isn’t one.”

~ Wei Wu Wei

I laughed out loud when I came across this quote.
It’s a shocking truth.
When we realize that we are not the CEO of our little universe and that the sun doesn’t revolve around us, we can get over ourselves.
When we see that we are not alone and separate, and that we are a part of something so much bigger, life lightens up … a lot!
So stop thinking and doing, reading self help books, seeking out the advice of others, wondering what others think of you, and coming from a mindset of “not enough.”
Instead, keep tuning inwards and fall in love with the essence of who you are.
Let unhappiness dissolve in this space.
Namaste

He was an interesting man, for sure — Anglo-Irish, if your readers are unsure — from a very wealthy family; second marriage was to a Georgian princess, and before her a Russian noblewoman (Rimsky-Korsakov). His books can be a bit of a headache, but brilliant at the same time. Great post, Val. H ❤

So, so true, Val. But, then again, so, so difficult to achieve. While I am a great proponent of trying to live in the sunshine, metaphorically speaking, I do worry that many may see this as a hurdle too high to jump over and I do fear for those that fear such failure.

It’s always OK to fail so long as one understands the importance of always trying to ‘win’; always to take it each moment at a time. Sheryl Sandberg comes to mind…

Thank you for this perspective Paul. I am more of an advocate of living in the light, shadow and darkness that is a part of all of our human lives. I believe that the light is something that is within us all. Fear and ego prevents us from tuning into it. There is no winning or losing… just being. 💕

I think I have just fallen prey to another self-help book. 🙂 But if this one helps me tune inwards and fall in love with the essence of who I am, then it shouldn’t be too bad. Thank you for the reminder that we tend to make a whole lot of fuss about nothing.

It does become a lot of fuss as we explore … it’s only afterwards we see it was simple after all ❤️ Awareness opens up new ways of seeing things. Thank you!
