I love this Golda Meir wisdom from Ostrazhenie 😌

“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”

Your post prompted me to go across to my ‘pin board’ and take down a short item that I have had for years ( and forgotten who originally wrote it) and share it with you and your readers.

    This is what is written:

    A self-affirmation

For today, I am in charge of my life.
    Today, I choose my thoughts.
    Today, I choose my attitudes.
Today, I choose my actions and behaviours.
With these, I create my life and my destiny.

I love that quote by Golda Meir. We are what we make ourselves, it’s up to each one of us to make the most of ourselves.
The wonderful quote from Paul reinforces it.

To be honest, I like the beginning of the quote better than the end.

In the Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Dan Millman shares his spiritual journey, which commenced, oddly enough, when he met “Socrates” at an all-night service station during his junior year at Berkeley.

Prior to their meeting, Dan had it all, or so he thought ~ success both as a college student and as a champion gymnast. Although Dan’s life was filled with external rewards, he lacked peace of mind.

Through painfully humorous lessons, Soc reveals the Way of the Peaceful Warrior ~ the spiritual path to inner strength through realization of the truths which lie within.

Socrates opens Dan’s eyes to the illusion of achievement as a path to happiness.

And, that, in a nutshell, is why the end of Meir’s quote doesn’t resonate with me.

Good point Nancy. I agree as far as following the spiritual way. I had someone in mind when I chose this quote, and I took it in the context of building small achievements and self confidence in the world. More like an entry way to following a spiritual path. This felt like a stepping stone. Sometimes we have to talk the language of what is familiar and build on it. xo

Gotcha! Makes sense ~> we are all at different points on the path. (And some of us are on different paths entirely.)

Many folks think that MORE achievement will bring them MORE money to buy MORE things which they believe will bring them MORE happiness. Often they are disappointed as they tick the boxes and find that they are MORE stressed and LESS happy.
