Accept the world as it is.
If you accept the world,
the Tao will be luminous inside you
and you will return to your primal self.
~~~
She who is centered in the Tao
can go where she wishes, without danger.
She perceives the universal harmony,
even amid great pain,
because she has found peace in her heart.
Lao Tzu
These quotes from the Tao Te Ching come from an other translation in Matthew Fox’s “One River, Many Wells”
May we all find the true peace that comes from acceptance of the world … and continue to make a difference where we can.
Peace to you.
Wise man. When asked about the art of living, Lao Tzu explained the Tao as follows:
I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and in thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patience with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.
~ Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Simplicity, patience and compassion. What a wonderful recipe for all as we head for a new year. Some might argue that the word ‘wonderful’ should be replaced by the word ‘necessary’!
Simplicity, acceptance, and peace… Wonderful cores for a contented life… Thank you for your writing.
If you’re a fan of Tao influence, a simple and amusing book to read if I may, “The Tao of Poo”; a suggestion of parallel between Taoism and stories of Winnie the Poo. I enjoyed it, perhaps you may gain some enjoyment from it as well.
