* Tao Inspiration – the universe is its own

rule the world

By taking control of the universe, would you improve it?
The universe is its own, and no one can better it.

Its complexity is deep and unimaginable.
It cannot be harnessed.

Try to manipulate it and it will eventually slip away.
Try to keep it and it will eventually spoil.

Sometimes tension, sometimes ease;
Sometimes sickness, sometimes health;
Sometimes leading, sometimes led;
Sometimes clear, sometimes confused.

The sage consciously avoids extremes.*

I love this first question. Without realizing it, many of us ย try to control the world and life.

Recognizing that the universe is better than anything we could come up with, ย puts me in my rightful place… ๐Ÿ˜‰

In this place there is a natural rhythm like aย pendulum of life.

The place I call ourย middle ground.

Namaste

  1. Yes we are mostly control freaks, but it doesn’t work, it only creates stress. Surrender to the unfolding, if we can. Easier said than done of course ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Indeed Chris. We learn all these ways to try to feel more in control when we are small and vulnerable. And they stick with us and grow right along with our ego! This part of life seems to be about, seeing, accepting, unlearning and letting go. Thank you for adding to the conversation with your wisdom!

  3. It took me years to find gratitude in NOT being in control…and I admit there are many times I find myself grasping for control anyway.

  4. We cannot change the world, let alone the universe, the only thing we can change is the person in the mirror. Then we can be a seed for change ๐Ÿ™‚
