hibernating
Still hibernating.
There is nothing wrong.
Winter’s Middle Ground
~

A lot of people are in a bit of a funk right now. The cold and flu viruses have been challenging this winter. Perhaps you also  feel the lack of energy, motivation or inspiration …

Remember that we are connected to Nature and its seasons.

There is nothing wrong.

Here in the North, this is a time for nourishing and replenishing before the seeds of Spring start to sprout and inspire us to new growth.

So embrace this time by taking time for yourself and allowing yourself to simply be.

Step back and listen to your deeper wisdom in preparation for new growth that will naturally come.

  3. Happy Winter day Val…
There is a stirring to do this or that, yet, flu season is too brutal..so chewing vitamin C..doing a bunch of baking and enjoying this time for comfy blankets and fuzzy houseshoes!! Enjoy your day…Blessings abundantly flow… Spring is soon! Namaste’

    • Thank you Deb. It sounds like you have a wonderful plan 💛 I am teaching Yin Yoga for the Winter season and Water element, along with Restorative yoga classes in a couple of studios. It’s keeping me busy… and making me see that I also must embrace the season for myself ☃️

  7. Some funk here moderated by a warm weekend. More cold, more funk this week. Hanging in until spring.

  8. It’s certainly too beautiful over here for hibernation – but as soon as the weather gets bad again, then yes please!

    • Wrap up and appreciate the wonderful lights, shadows, colors and patterns in nature too! Dogs need walking and nature has her own beauty at this time of the year. 💛

  10. Funny you mentioned hibernation here. I’ve actually been having trouble falling asleep this week, though I haven’t been able to pinpoint why… But maybe some extra time for stillness and simply being, like you said here, might help.

    • Thank you for sharing your experience Sara. 💛 I’ve been preoccupied
with helping others find their inner stillness in a Yin Yoga Workshop. What I’ve learned from Chinese Medicine is that a gentle foot massage, focusing on the sole of the feet, and putting feet in warm water for 15 minutes before bedtime can bring about better sleep in Winter. 💛

  11. Very nice.. we are all connected as a collective.. use this time to build, to sow, so that we can reap in later seasons.

  14. Yes and good advice, Val. I kind of miss those days when I had a good excuse to burrow away in the Maine woods because I couldn’t get out our 1/2 mile snowed-in road. It was really a lesson in being still. When I was 20-something, I did not like it at all, but knew even then how necessary it was to learn to sit inside my own skin. By my 40’s it was habitual. By my 60’s, there is no other way. I love my own company (and that of the dogs!). It helps me deal better with the outside world to have first nurtured myself. Aloha xoxo

  15. I’m hibernating too. My back has been out for 2 weeks, then I caught my daughter’s bronchitis. This exact pattern happened 3 years ago in January.I’m laying in my bed trying to catch up on some of these posts but will have to quit soon and just rest. That may be what it takes to make me rest. 😦 Enjoy the quite moments.

  18. Walking My Path: Mindful Wanderings in Nature

    Nice, Val!
Ok, i’m putting it out there and asking people to pray for snow for us. Really would appreciate it. There is literally no snow pack, and that is where our water comes from. The earth is parched and cracked. Looks like a pretty scary fire season this year. We should be under several feet of snow right now. We got about 4 ” in Oct. Help!! Thank you everyone! I am grateful.
People have spring fever right now, and we are still waiting for winter!
Your image reminds me of a cartoon I saw once. I think it was Far Side – Gary Larsen. A mama bear is trying to awaken her cub and the cub is saying, ” 5 more days! Please, just 5 more days!” 🙂

    • Thanks Lori. Glad it resonated with you too. We tend to beat ourselves up when we feel we “should” be more engaged, energetic etc.
It will shift soon enough. 💛

  26. Throughout January I tell myself that hibernation is good. I read more. I write more. I make more soup. But by the time February rolls around, alright already. I want sun! Warmth! Fortunately my guy and I get away to a warm place for some of this month, and my grumpies disappear. For the past five days I’ve excelled in my sun salutations, over and over again. Ahhhhhh.
