Take time to chill out
When there’s a chill in the air.
Find your Middle Ground

~

Find your Middle Ground is about stepping away from stressful days and anxious minds, and taking time to pause.

What better time of year than Winter, to pause and hibernate for a while. It’s the way of nature.

When we take time to nurture ourselves and allow ourselves to chill, we open a door to our natural state of being – accepting, loving, peaceful, kind and content. Most of us are so distracted and moving so fast that we get caught up in the world of “doing” or worrying about what we should be doing next.
Too much doing and thinking disconnects us from our sense of “being”and who we really are.

I write about finding this place of connection, contentment and peace in the highs and lows of life. I call it our Middle Ground.

  1. My kind of middle ground is to stay away from the extremes. I guess when you start gravitating to the centre, You have reached a much more peaceful stage in your life.

  3. Finding our middle ground under all the snow – while hibernating – is great advice! An opportune time 🙂

  4. I put the brakes on a few activities . . . so I could alternate between “going with the flow” and “just chilling.” 😀

  6. Somehow, when the temps reach way below freezing, my body won’t move and my mind decides to stay behind with it. The only way to stay warm is to sit crossed-legged in front of the fireplace and chant an om or two. (or 80!) xo

  7. It is curious how speedily many people insist on moving, and I can easily get into that too. When you land in Hawaii, or visit other slower-moving places, it is surprising to experience the slow-down one is forced to embrace. And it is so lovely. Your post is a great reminder, Val, thanks so much.

  11. I think this message is for me Val. I’ve been trying to do an online job and it has stressed me out so much, I don’t think it’s worth it.
I must step away from stressful days and an anxious mind.
Thank you for your words of wisdom! xxxxx

    • Trying and shoulds can cause so much tension, Ally. When we notice we can bring awareness to breaking hat habitual cycle. May you shift your thinking from feeling pressure into a place of choice.
Pausing, stepping back, and chilling will give you a new perspective 💛🙏💛

  13. OH does that picture look COLD! Your post is a huge confirmation for me and a huge green light as well. For years I dreaded the winter and I would fall into the winter blues. Not this year. No. I finally embraced winter and now I see real beauty and am glad from the respite of the heavy work that is required with my gardens. I have more time to read, more time to “chill”, more time to just BE. Yes too much has happened lately that could have made me stir crazy. But no. I just quietly accepted this Season with Calm. Why didn’t I do this sooner? (smile) Beautiful post, Val! Thank you! ☺️
