peace symbol art

The Art of Peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your appointed task in the Art of Peace. Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow.

You are here for no other purpose than to realize your inner divinity and manifest your inner enlightenment. Foster peace in your own life and then apply the Art to all that you encounter.*

~ Morihei Ueshiba, Founder of Aikido

Peace is an art form.
It is created.
There has to be an intention behind it.
It comes from within.
It comes with some effort and skill.
It brings about transformation within you and to those around you.
Manifest your inner enlightenment and share it with the world.

Namaste

  7. For No Other Purpose. It’s important to keep reminding oneself, especially these days, that this is not a joyride. Though it can be joyful, it’s also spiked with tears and suffering along the way. If not to learn – what, then? Good post, Val. ❤

  8. Your quote from Morihei Ueshiba reminded me that I had a book ‘Remembering O-Sensei’ – a collection of memories by his students. Haven’t read it for 10 years or so and should read it again. Thanks for the reminder.
As Jet says, finding inner peace is a lifelong process 🙂

  9. I am a big believer in creating your own world and that thoughts create reality. But still, sometimes I find the following phrases to be paradoxical: “It comes from within” and “it is created…some skill.”

If it comes from within, shouldn’t it be effortless? You “allow” the peace that is already within?

Maybe it’s the allowing part that is difficult. 🙂 I could think about this all day. Thanks!

    • Thanks Elizabeth for sharing this perspective. I was thinking in terms of art and how it is created. Finding peace, for example, through meditation or yoga, can take practice and skill too. 💛

Beautiful, powerful words of wisdom. As a busy mom, I find it hard to pause and find peace sometimes. But you’re right. It is an effort. A skill that needs to be develop. I need to find peace in every situation I’m in. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  12. Do you remember when Denise Kucinich ran for President and said he was going to create a Dept of Peace. His peers rolled their eyes, but I never forgot that. The intention and vision was meaningful, because it does require effort and skill. Well worth our commitment and practice.

Just reading this made me feel more at peace, I really love the way peace is described as an art form. It really is, and it always takes a bit of effort and sometimes planning. It’s something I’ve been working on for a couple years now and the changes it’s brought to my life have been surprising in the best of ways.
