cute duck

I am home from Scotland and getting back into the daily routine.  I had a great time meeting some old friends and being with family.

One of the best memories was at a family gathering at my brothers house. It has become a tradition that at some point in the evening everyone gets up to dance and let their hair down. Its so much fun!

As Brene Brown writes in The Gifts of Imperfection:

“Laughter, song and dance create emotional and spiritual connection; they remind us of the one thing that truly matters when we are searching for comfort, celebration, inspiration or healing : We are not alone.”

Towards the end of 2016 I shared with you some of my favorite music for relaxation and Savasana. Now I’d like to share some dance music in the spirit of connection and mutual goofiness… as well as burning up a few more calories.

I hope you will join me. Let’s dance like noone is watching!

Thinks … I’m pretty sure I caught a glimpse of Hariod Brawn in this BBC production.

  8. I am of the mind that the only reasonable response to let’s dance is YES! Tell me Val, when you visit Scotland, do your friends and family think you have an American accent now? ❤

    • At the drop of a hat, I’m there David! I got over being self conscious at the same time as I got over my fear of public speaking.
“Cant stop me now…. I’m having such a good time … having a ball.. ”

        • No secret Dave – I joined Toastmasters with a friend so we could present at a conference together. It was fun to do it with someone else … and the practice and feedback were very empowering. When we got to the conference, we were told that so many people had signed up for our session that it wasn’t in a conference room, but the main auditorium. Now that took some deep breathing!!! It’s amazing what we can do when something is thrown at us and we are ready to step up instead of stepping back. 😎

  18. Family meetings are special moments… This last year we spent Christmas with fewer members though, as some decided to celebrate Christmas and New Years Eve in other places…. I felt the ausence of those family members, probably more because we often celebrate together…
Anyway, it was nice…. I hope that you had a great time in your trip and with your loved ones, dear Val… Wishing you a succesful 201, full of good things 😉 ❤

  22. What a fun post. Glad you got to spend happy time with family in a country I long to visit. I break out into dance anywhere I hear good music to the embarrassment of whom ever is with me. 🙂 My daughter thinks it’s “cute”. Just brings the happy on.
