“When you meet the Master, he puts a spiritual cowbell around your neck so that wherever you go, both he and you know where you each are and so can laugh together. For when you hear that bell, you are immediately reminded of your inseparableness from the Master.”* ~ Mooji
I smiled when I read this today. Have you noticed others with cowbells? They are the peeps that we immediately feel attuned and connected to. We seem to be drawn to each other like magnets.
Walking along the street in Philadelphia the other day, I felt the cow bell vibration with a few people among the crowds. We made eye contact and smiled.
And then I thought back to how I was earlier in life as I walked along the street. As a young child, I wanted people to see me. I wanted to be noticed and for people to admire me. But I was told that people didn’t like show offs, and so I became someone who tried to go unnoticed in the street.
When I walked down a city street I avoided eye contact and kept my gaze to the ground. After all, I was also told that there could be mean people out there. As an adult I saw the evidence of this belief, as most people were also looking downwards….
When I started to look up, I wonder if it was the recognition of our connectedness or that I became self assured to hold my head up high and really see…

I love to say hi to strangers on the street…they’re expressions are priceless. It’s as though you’re from another planet. 🙂 Loved this, Val! xo

It’s a funny thing Val, but if we walk amongst strangers radiating thoughts of loving kindness towards them, many will make an unconsciously initiated acknowledgment of it with perhaps a piercingly interested glance, or a smile. 🙂

I think we do recognize those who are like us, I’ve experienced it too, and spiritual cowbells sound as good a reason as any other Val! ❤

Life on earth can be confusing, but how fortunate that we get a chance to live it and sort out the messages. Wonderful post, Val.

Thank you Jet for your comment. We all experience life in our own way, yet bringing awareness to what we sense and feel is the beginning of awareness of life beyond our individual selves … And connection to something so much more. Inc,using cows ☺️

Powerful observations Val. I too had that messaging as a child — and now, purposefully walk amongst strangers sending out loving kindness radiation seeking connection and seeking nothing.
The thought of a spiritual cowbell is making me smile as I type. thanks for the morning light. I shall carry it, and my cowbell, with me throughout my day!

It is worth smiling over, especially as we reflect on our own experience and how cool these cows are with their cowbells. Thank you Louise 💛

I try to walk with my eyes up because I once heard someone point out that most of us walk with our eyes down and when we do so, we miss so much. Over the years, I have found that to be true. It’s hard to find others with bells if we’re staring at the sidewalk.

So true Val, I have what has been called an intense focus and miss so much of what goes on with a wider view! Constantly trying to broaden my focus to include the side to side and the up and also not forgetting the down just in case there is something there too! Love, David 🙂

I was once scolded for ‘staring’ as a child and to this day, I have to consciously overcome that training to look people in the eye. What things we are taught!

I visited Philadelphia last week, half a day to sight see and the next day was factory training, it’s a neat city, but no way could I make that home – that is a lot of people in a small space! 😉

I really like this one, Val. I think it depends much at our culture, how we are raised to walk, look and have eye contact with other souls.
I have been both places in my life and I prefer so much the open one, where we send out our peace and love and hope not to attract any negativity.

I can’t help but think of that SNL (saturday night live) episode with Will Farrell and Christopher Walken skit “More Cowbell”. There are SO many times I would like to hear more cowbell. 🙂

Lovely post, Val. I was brought up to not think too much of myself, so used to be very shy. Thank goodness that I found my true self over the years, and am not afraid to look up and make eye contact with those other wonderful cowbell people. 🙂

I very much like this thought ~ and believe in this idea, as connecting with those like-minded people is so much easier to notice and break the ice.

Mooji is great and a source of a lot of my inspiration. There are many more getting that Cow Bell, the masses are waking up which is fantastic. I believe in the Hundredth Monkey theory and were are so nearly there, the masses will awaken the the common consciousness will spread.
Living in the country it appears many have their cow bells, this is I believe is due to the connection with nature. Nature is claiming back this earth giving us the opportunity to develop along with it.
Thanks
